Ms. Virginia Patterson, 84, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Sonshine Manor assisted living facility in Ellijay, GA, where she had been a resident for over two years. She was the daughter of Seward & Sara Bob (Pittman) Hix.
She is survived by her grandson, Garrett Reed, her granddaughter, Gentry Reed, children of her late daughter Heather Reed & husband Greg Reed of Flowery Branch, GA; and siblings, Richard Hix, Judith Hix Martin & Kerry Hix, all of Chatsworth. She is also survived by four nephews, a niece, five great nephews and three great nieces.
Virginia, known to her family and older friends as Carolyn, graduated from Baroness Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing & worked as a registered nurse at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL, Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco, CA and Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. In later years, she worked as a private duty nurse and as a companion sitter.
Virginia attended several local churches, including Center Hill Baptist Church.
The family will hold a private service.
