Virginia Loraine Betterton Holcomb, age 64, of Chatsworth passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at AdventHealth Gordon with her husband and daughters by her side.
Mrs. Holcomb was an educator and loved her students. She loved seeing them learn new things and succeed in all that they did. Every single one of her students held a special place in her heart. She began her teaching career in 1989 with the Murray County School System at Spring Place Elementary School and remained there until her retirement in 2015.
She loved her family and especially loved her grandchildren. They were her whole world. She was their very first best friend and she was their biggest fan. She encouraged them to always do their very best in school and all of their sports and extra-curricular activities. She loved working on projects of all kinds with them, from arts and crafts to puzzles and projects in the yard.
She also enjoyed nature and bird watching. She loved the hummingbirds that visited her feeders on her front porch. She loved her many plants and flowers. She enjoyed watching them grow and bloom as the seasons changed. She also loved her animals. Her grand-beagle, Vanoss held a very special place in her heart.
