Mrs. Patsy Gwendolyn McMickle Wildes, daughter of Laverne McMickle and the late Cary McMickle was born March 7, 1963 in Donalsonville, Georgia. She graduated from Miller County High School in 1981. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and is a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church in Chatsworth, GA.
She was united in holy matrimony with Kerry Wildes on July 19, 1986. This union was blessed with three children and two grandchildren. Kerry and Patsy were married for 33 years.
Patsy earned two bachelor’s degrees in Math Education and Mathematics from Valdosta State University in 1986. She worked at Valdosta State University for one year before beginning her high school teaching career. Over her 19 years in education, Patsy taught at Avondale High School in Dekalb County, Lanier County High School, Murray and North Murray County High Schools, and most recently Mountain Education Charter School.
Mrs. Wildes, at the age of 57, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Hamilton Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her father, Cary McMickle.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Kerry Wildes; her son and daughter-in-law, Jacob & Bridget Wildes of Suwanee, GA; daughter, Hannah Wildes of Decatur, GA and fiancé, Joseph Ripley, Jr.; daughter, Rebekah Wildes of Valdosta, GA; foster daughter, Stacie Richardson of Jacksonville, FL; mother, Laverne McMickle of Donalsonville, GA; brother, Ronnie McMickle of Donalsonville, GA; sister, Nancy McMickle Ford of Clermont, FL; grandson, Caleb Wildes(3); granddaughter, Kerry Elizabeth (due in November) of Suwanee, GA; mother-in-law, Brenda Wildes; sisters-in-law: Monica Wildes, Pam Wildes, Courtney Wildes and Alice Jackson; brothers-in-law: Alan Wildes and Danny Wildes; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wildes was held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Creek Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Danny Cochran.
