Mrs. Katherine Louise Atkins, age 80, of Chatsworth, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 29, 2021.

Katherine was born on September 15, 1940, in Chatsworth, GA.

She will be remembered for her unconditional love and giving nature towards everyone she met. Her gentle nature made her a joy to be around. Spending time with her grandchildren was a highlight in her life. She made sure everyone felt welcomed and loved.

Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Robert Ballew and Thelma Odell Walls Ballew; sisters, Mary Frances Swanson and an infant sister; sisters-in-law, Bertha Mae Duke and Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Stancill; brother-in-law,  Jerry Glenn Atkins.

She was survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James “Darrell” Atkins, who then went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Randy Wooldridge, of Chatsworth, son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Rebekah Atkins, of Rome; grandchildren, Caitlyn Wooldridge and fiancé Gage Black, Nick Wooldridge, Adam Atkins, and Emma Atkins; brothers-in-law, JE Swanson and James Stancill; nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the lives of Mr. Darrell Atkins and Mrs. Katherine Atkins will be held Friday, February 5, 2021, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, social distancing and masks are encouraged. No food or drinks are allowed inside the funeral home.

Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of the arrangements.
