Mrs. Julia M. Young, age 90 of Chatsworth, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at Hamilton Medical Center.
Julia was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball and University of Georgia football fan. She also enjoyed crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Young; parents, Arthur Patterson and Nancy Scott Patterson England; brothers, Everett Patterson and Elmer Patterson; sisters, Earthie McGill, Stella Patterson, Gladys Long, and Glenda Riden.
Survivors include her son, Earnest (Juanita) Jones of Chatsworth; daughter, Vida (Ralph) Betterton of Chatsworth; brother, Harold (Hazel) Patterson of Chatsworth; sister, Mamie Hester of Chatsworth; special sister-in-law, Ruth Jones of Chatsworth; sister-in-law, Melba Phillips of Blairsville, Ga,; grandchildren, Tom (Butch) Hice of Beaufort, SC, Bobby (Lisa) Hice of Chatsworth, Curtis (Shay) Jones of Dalton, Ga., Heather (Brad) Coker of Chatsworth, Malea Sutton of Chatsworth, Adam (Leslie) Betterton of Dalton, Ga., and Kyle Betterton of Dalton, Ga,; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Catlett, Taylor Jones, Luke Jones, Eleanor Jones, Aydan Betterton, Emily Betterton, Lillian Betterton, Kaitlyn Betterton, Tayla (Tyler) McKinney, Alex Sutton, Aubree Coker, Dalyn Coker, Jade (Tyler) Martin, and Trystan (Briana) Fossett; great great-grandchildren, Avalon McKinney, Lakeston Miller, Haygen Cummings, Eli Fossett, Kyzer Fossett, Decker Fossett; step children, David Young, Craig Young, Mike Young, and Mitzi Young.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Julia M. Young were held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Southers and Rev. Mark Ferguson officiating. Interment followed at Murray Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.
