Mr. Jarrod Edward Betterton, age 40, of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Floyd Medical Center from complications of ALS.
Jarrod was a hardworking, loving father, a son, a brother, one of many cousins and a great friend. He loved raising his son and daughters, enjoyed spending time at the saddle club and watching horse shows. He enjoyed racing and loved Alabama football. “Roll Tide”! He loved going to the lake and swimming with his family. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He always had a smile, liked to joke around and was always laughing.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thelbert A. Betterton and Mamie A. Betterton.
Jarrod is survived by son, Austin Kole Betterton; daughters, Jailyne Elektra Betterton and Baylie Gonzales; parents, Paul and Shena Betterton; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Whitney Betterton; grandchild, Juliana Alvarado; maternal grandparents, Henry (Bo) and Janie Gallman; aunts, Juanita King, Virginia Holcomb (Jim), Tricia Stuart, and Sara Roper (Ricky); uncles, Averett Betterton, Ralph Betterton (Vida), Thomas Betterton, Richard “Pete” Betterton (Charlotte), Marty Gallman (Robin), Randy Gallman, Matthew Gallman (Kisha), and Russel Gallman (April); special cousins, Shalan Pickle (Albert), Shelly Holcomb, and Nathan Coram (Kristy); nephews, Landon Davis Betterton and Anderson Bryan Betterton; special friend and mother of his daughters, Ashley Gonzales (Juan); special friends and caregiver, Tammy Collins (Randy), Jackie Bennett (Jerry), and Melissa Allen (Bobby); and many more cousins and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life Mr. Betterton were held Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Juan Gonzales officiating. Interment followed in the Holly Creek Cemetery.
The family received friends, Friday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
