James Jeffrey “Jim” Tipton of Crandall, Ga., passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at age 72.
Jim was raised in Los Angeles. After attending Birmingham High School in San Fernando Valley, he studied at the University of California, Berkeley. He worked for many years at Novell, Inc., an American software and services company, where he rose to the position of Senior Systems Engineer. He spent his free time golfing or fishing.
Jim attended Eton United Methodist Church and, while he was unable to serve in the military himself, he actively supported the Sons of the American Legion, TriState Women Veterans and the American Legion family singers.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Earnest Tipton, and mother Norma LaNell (Cox) Tipton. He will be remembered and missed by cousins Beth Wingfield of Crandall, Ga.; Robert (Raul Romaguerra) Wilkinson of Atlanta; James (Shanna) Wilkinson of Alba, Texas; James Travis “JT” (Tatiana) Wilkinson and Emiley Wilkinson, all of Tyler, Texas, as well as other cousins and many friends.
