Mr. James “Darrell” Atkins, age 79, of Chatsworth, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
Darrell was born on February 20, 1941, in Dalton, GA.
He will be remembered for his caring and giving nature, making sure everyone around him had what they needed first before himself. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and sharing his crafts with others. Spending time with his grandchildren was a highlight in his life.
Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Katherine Louise Atkins who passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021; parents, Otis Bland Atkins and Hazel Fair Bramblett Atkins; sisters, Bertha Mae Duke, Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Stancill; brother, Jerry Glenn Atkins; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Swanson.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Randy Wooldridge, of Chatsworth, son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Rebekah Atkins, of Rome; grandchildren, Caitlyn Wooldridge and fiancé Gage Black, Nick Wooldridge, Adam Atkins, and Emma Atkins; brothers-in-law, JE Swanson and James Stancill; nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the lives of Mr. Darrell Atkins and Mrs. Katherine Atkins will be held Friday, February 5, 2021, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
