Mr. Estle Maloy Bailey, age 78, of Chatsworth, passed away Friday, April 9, at 10 p.m. at his residence.
He was born October 16, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. Icum B. and Callie Bailey, and his brother, Rev. Kenneth Bailey.
Estle was a follower and believer of Jesus Christ. He loved his Lord and loved to sing Southern Gospel music. He began singing tenor with The Galileans Quartet when he was 24 years of age. He then began singing tenor with The Gospel Trailblazers Quartet, traveling from church to church, to tent revivals and singing about Jesus Christ. The Trailblazers sang professionally for four years, where he made five recordings with them.
He is survived by his loving, faithful wife of 59 years, Anna Jo; daughters, Angie and Randy Merritt, of Luttrell, Tenn.. Renee and Allen Kilpatrick of Eton; son, Rev. R. Shane and Roxanne Bailey, of Eton; brothers, Harold Bailey and Ronnie and Jane Bailey; grandchildren, Amy and Justin Campbell, of Nashville, Tenn., Jordan and Morgan Merritt, of Sioux Falls, S.D., Callie and Bruce Johnson, of Crossville, Tenn., Mitchell Brown, of Perry, Ga., Kaitlyn Brown, of Fort Oglethorpe, Logan Bailey and Isabella Bailey, both of Eton; great-grandchildren Liam, Noah, Leighton and Luka Merritt, of S.D. and a baby girl expected in August; extended family also survives.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Bailey were held Monday, April 12, 2021, from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Hal B. Thompson and Pastor Shane Bailey officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Hills Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, social distancing and masks were encouraged. No food or drinks were allowed inside the funeral home.
Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth was entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Estle Maloy Bailey.
