Maurice L. Coulter, Ph.D, died peacefully at home on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

He was preceded in death by parents Juanita & Leroy Coulter. He is survived by wife Karen Coulter, children Marissa Pittman and her children Megan and Mason; and Mark Coulter and his son Dallas.

Maurice is survived by stepchildren & spouses Michael & Jill Anthony, Steve & Erin Anthony, Julianne & Gregg Wynn, special grandchildren Ashley Anthony Cason and David McDonald Other grandchildren include Alexandra, Rachel and Nick Anthony; great grandchildren Harley and Tristan Cason, Graeson Pittman and Henley McDonald. He is also survived by his special amigo Pedro Jimenez and special dog Mattie Sue. He is also survived by brothers Michael and Bruce Coulter along with many nieces and nephews.

Maurice was President of Von Gahlen International, Inc. and Vice President of Von Gahlen Nederlands, a leader in Radiation Shielding Products, until his retirement in 2017. He served on the Murray County Board of Education in late 1980s/early 1990s. In his spare time he was a sheep farmer and actively involved in hay production on his beloved farm.

He was instrumental in the development of the Murray County Animal Shelter, and was very active in animal rescue for the past 27 years.

The family will receive friends and family at Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. Face masks are requested. The body will be cremated.

There will be a celebration of Maurice’s life at a later date.
