Mary “Lois” Westfield Robinson

Mary “Lois” Westfield Robinson, born in Chatsworth, Georgia, on April 13, 1924, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020, in Dalton, Georgia, after a full life of 96 years.

Lois, daughter of Robert Frank Westfield and Julia Mae Quarles Westfield, grew up in Chatsworth and graduated from Murray County High School in 1941, then studied Home Economics at the University of Georgia and finished her teaching degree at West Georgia College. After World War II, Lois married William Bedford Robinson of Spring Place, Georgia. After a few years living in Athens while going to school at the University, they moved to Rome, Georgia, and then to Dalton, Georgia, for the remainder of her life.  Lois was a third grade teacher at Morris Street School for 21 years and a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church for six decades.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, William B. Robinson, sister, Frances Townsend, brother, Robert “Julian” Westfield and parents Robert Frank and Julia Mae Westfield.

She is survived by her two sons, Don Robinson (spouse Julie Robinson) of Cedartown, GA and Bill Robinson (spouse Molly Ahearn) of Clinton Corners, NY; grandchildren, Allison Robinson, Holly Robinson, Ryley Robinson; sister in-law, Anne Westfield of Rome, GA; nephews, Pat and Ted Townsend, both of Chatsworth, GA.

A graveside service was held Sunday, May 3, 2020, at 4 p.m. from the Chatsworth Heights Cemetery with Pastor Terry Fleming officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dalton First United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Lois Robinson: 500 S. Thornton Ave. Dalton, GA 30720.

Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth was in charge of the arrangements.
