Jean Blatz Pritt

Jean Blatz Pritt left this world peacefully on November 30, 2020. Jean was born in Warren, PA, the third child of Leo and Adelaide (Pecan) Blatz. Innumerable fun memories were formed as her close-knit family grew from three siblings to eight while living in CT, NY and NJ. She was an excellent student and was as likely to be found reading a book or practicing a speech for her debate team as riding a bike or climbing a tree.

Jean graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 1973 and University of California, Riverside in 1983.  Jean had an incredible work ethic and hit the ground running after college, working for the Department of State in Frankfurt, Germany, a law firm in Washington, DC, and the American Red Cross in Yokosuka, Japan. A relocation with her late husband and gentleman farmer, Bill Pritt, brought her to Crandall, GA in 2002.  She chose to remain in Crandall after Bill’s death in 2010 and life there provided Jean with wonderful friends through her career moves and volunteer efforts. Always a lover of animals, she regularly volunteered at local animal shelters.

Jean had a profound love of family and never hesitated to step in and help her parents and siblings. Her many nieces and nephews were the gleeful recipients of Jean’s many presents as well as her boundless enthusiasm at every family gathering. No overseas job could prevent her from showing up at a sister’s reunion as staying close to family meant the world to her.

Many friends were touched by Jean’s kindness and generosity over the years and most found it hard not to be infected by her energy and drive. She loved to travel and shared many adventures with her four sisters and especially her dear friend, Jan Kelly.

Jean is survived by her husband, Stuart Armour; her father, Leo Blatz; and stepmom Joan Blatz; siblings, Tom Blatz (Claire, Joseph & Charles), Nancy Tracy (Sarah, Matt, & Danny), Tricia Heinz (Ron Heinz) (Ronnie, Addy, Nate & Eric), Jane Johnson (Brent Johnson) (Alexis & Kara), Anne Blatz (Max Figueroa) (Ben & Melanie), Peter Blatz (Hilary) (Thomas & Henry) and John Blatz (Paola) (Nina).

A memorial will be held post COVID-19, hopefully in the spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.

Special thanks to all who cared for Jean in her final days.

Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of the arrangements.
