A scholarship fund has been established in the name of former Murray County School Superintendent Doug Griffin, who passed away in June.
The $500 annual scholarship will be administered by the Murray County High School Alumni Association, said Anne Childers, daughter of Doug Griffin.
“We want to give this scholarship to a student who is interested in public service,” said Childers. “That’s what my father believed in and that is what he taught his children to believe in.”
Griffin died at 88. He taught and coached football and girls basketball in Murray County schools and later served three terms as school superintendent.
Childers said the Griffin family will contribute to the scholarship fund but also hopes to raise money for additional scholarships.
Anyone interested in donating to the Doug Griffin Memorial Scholarship Fund can do so at Murray County High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 2155, Chatsworth, Ga., 30705.
