Mr. Floyd B. Jones, age 87, of Chatsworth passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at Hamilton Medical Center.
Floyd served in the U.S. Army Reserves, U.S. Air Force and was retired from the U.S. Navy. He also was a retired teacher and transportation director of the Murray County School System. He was a fifty-year plus Mason, a member of Tilton Chapter #525 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Eunice Roberson Jones; brothers Clinton Jones, James Jones, and Bobby Joe Jones; and sisters Lucille Faw Newton, Josephine Souther, and Christine Owens.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Thelma Kilgore Jones; brother-in-law Lamar (Phyllis) Kilgore; special nephew Todd (Lynn) Kilgore; other nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Floyd Jones were held at 2 pm Monday, February 13, 2023, from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Pastor Ed Kilgore officiating. Military and Masonic rites will also be observed. The family received friends from 4 pm until 8 pm Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial followed in New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery.
