Container Maintenance Corp. hopes to begin operations at its 26-acre site across from the Inland Port within the next 30 days, according to Kenny Skipper, director of operations for CMC.
The Charleston, S.C.-based company will operate a trucking service, perform container and chassis repairs and provide container storage capacity at the site along U.S. 411, near Crandall.
CMC is currently operating at the Inland Port site.
“We should be operational in 30 days,” Skipper told The Times on Monday. “They are putting rock down now. After that we’ll put up fencing and gates and set up a temporary office in a trailer.”
Skipper said the initial work will cover about 10 acres, leaving room for expansion in the future. He estimated that 25-30 employees will be hired for the site, including drivers, mechanics, dispatchers and office staff.
“We’re behind right now, but we hope to get everything moved across the road soon,” he said. “We look forward to being a good neighbor in the community.”
