Ben R. Dotson, 71, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2021, after an extended battle with complications of Agent Orange.
Born April 29, 1949, in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of the late J.B. Dotson and Helen Dotson. Ben was raised in a military family, traveling throughout Germany and the United States. He was a proud 1967 honor graduate of Murray County High school in Chatsworth, GA. He then Honorably served in the US Army and the Vietnam War. Upon returning, he completed his business degree. Ben solely owned and operated Carpet Tech in Anaheim, CA. He retired after 35 years and moved to Conyers, GA.
He was the patriarch of his family, both firm and generous. He will be remembered as a loving brother, uncle, and cousin, and adoring friend.
Ben is survived by his sister, Heidi Dotson Nichols; brother, Michael Dotson; nephew, Jason Nichols; niece, Meghan Land; several cousins including Roy Smith and Scott Shepherd; several great-nieces and nephews including Kaylee Michael, Annaleigha Nichols, Damian and Jonathan Dorn; great-nephews Mason Michael and Lorenzo Sontay; and many close friends including life-long friend Tim Dooley.
His wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest with his parents at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, at Jones Funeral Home in Chatsworth, GA, for family and friends.
