Feds deny disaster relief claim

Murray County Commissioner Greg Hogan said the county was informed that it did not qualify for federal disaster relief programs, despite an Easter Sunday tornado which claimed seven lives.

Hogan said the estimated value of destroyed and damaged property did not reach the minimal level to qualify the county for federal funding.

Hogan said Gov. Brian Kemp could appeal the decision.

See The Times on Wednesday for more on this and other news from the commissioner’s meeting on Tuesday.

  1. It’s a shame that Murray County does not qualify for federal funding. I do hope that Governor Kemp does something to get this passed. These people need Federal assistance.
If they don’t qualify could someone please print as to why they wouldn’t?
    It’s shocking!
