On Friday, August 23, 2019, Mary Kate Baugh Buckley passed away quietly in the comfort of her home in Savannah, GA, at the age of 86. She was surrounded by loving family.
Mary Kate was born on December 10, 1932, in Chatsworth, GA. Her parents were Charles Robert Baugh, Sr., and Euna Vivian Loughridge Baugh, of Crandall and Chatsworth, and grandparents, William F. and Fannie Roney Loughridge of Eton, and John Oscar and Lula Baugh of Mineral Bluff. She was a 1948 graduate of Murray County High School.
Mary Kate traveled the world extensively with her husband, William C. (Bill) Buckley, a career U.S. Navy Commander. Upon his naval retirement in 1979, Mary Kate embarked on a lengthy career of her own as a Certified Public Accountant and Internal Auditor for the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. She moved to Savannah with her husband in 1997, their home for the past 22 years.
Mary Kate was preceded in death by her mother and father, grandparents, and sister, Peggy Ann Baugh Jonas. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bill, and their three children, William Theodore Buckley, Katharine Buckley Morris, and Thomas Stuart Buckley; granddaughter Aya Kate Buckley and grandson Sean Thomas Buckley; brother Charles Robert Baugh, Jr., and sisters Betty Lou Baugh Sisson and Chera Sue Baugh; and extensive family.
She is missed by all.
