North Murray Fast Pitch
North Murray defeated Ridgeland at home Thursday night coming away with a nail-biting victory. The Mountaineers were down 4-5 in the bottom of the 7th inning when Alivia Rymer blasted her second homerun of the game and bringing the home crowd and her teammates into a frenzy as she crossed home plate. Alivia ended the game 3 for 4 with 2 homeruns and a double. The Mountaineers are now 1-0 to start the season for first year coach Jeff Samples. They look forward to hosting the Indians this week and then travelling to Adairsville on Thursday.
Murray County Fast Pitch
Murray County girls played their first game against Dade County and lost 13-3. Rileigh Morgan was 2-2, Alyssa Ursey was 2-3, Laura Stanley was 1-1 with 2 Rbi’s and Brooklyn Gonzalez was 2-3 with an Rbi. The Indians then played against Armuchee on Saturday winning the game 7-1. Natalie O’Neal finished with 3 Rbi’s while Maddie Jenkins was 2-for-4 with two Rbi’s. Kylie Usrey got her first win by pitching 5 innings. The Lady Indians are 1-1 in the early season. The Lady Indians will play North Murray this week and then travel to Pepperell on Friday at Heritage Park. The Lady Indians are 1-1 in the early season.
North Murray Football
Meet the Mountaineers will take place this Thursday at 6:15 on the field. Everyone is asked to bring their own chairs. They will have hotdogs and homemade ice cream while it lasts. This will also allow everyone a great opportunity to see the new field. The Mountaineers will begin their season Friday, in a scrimmage with Murphy High School. The game will take place at the opponent’s school in Murphy, NC.
North Murray Volleyball
North Murray High School won its first match of the season on Thursday as it came from behind after losing the first set 20-25. In the second set North Murray dominated 25-12. The third and final set was a nail biter as the teams fought to a 14-14 tie with North Murray winning the next points and taking the game 16-14. Cady Wheat and Macy Isbell both had three aces. North Murray played in the Welcome to the Jungle Tournament hosted by Adairsville Saturday losing the first 2 games in the pool games, first to Fannin County 20-25, 15-25 and then to Sonoraville 25-20, 10-25 and losing the 3 set 10-15. They did finish the pool play with a win over Pickens 25-16, 25-20. The Lady Mountaineers were then defeated in the first round of bracket play to Woodland in three sets 24-14, 17-25, 11-15. North Murray will travel to Woodland to play both Woodland and Chattooga on Thursday at 5pm.
Murray played against North Murray Thursday winning their first set 25-20. In the second set North Murray took control and Murray fell 12-25. The final set saw the 2 teams trade the lead back and forth until a 14-14 tie, ending with a North Murray win of 14-16. Murray will play at Woodland on Thursday.
Bagley Middle School Football Kicks off August 15
Bagley Middle School will travel to Red Bud Middle School on Thursday, August 15 for their first game of the season. The game will begin at 5 p.m.
Bagley Dance Team
The Bagley Dance Team completed a 3 day dance camp at Performing Arts Unlimited Aug 6-8. They would like to thank PAU for donating their time and choreography for 2 dances. The BMS Dance Team is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
BAM (Bike Around Murray) Coming Soon
BAM will take place on September 7. 10, 22, 50 and 62 mile courses. Early registration prices will be in effect through August 14. You may register by visiting www.bikemurray.org. Proceeds will support NGHP Community Initiatives.
Race Day at North Georgia Speedway August 17
The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals will come to North Georgia Speedway on Saturday August 17. 604 Crate, 602 Red Clay Series, Pony and Beginners. Pit gates will open at 2 pm and Grandstand gates will open at 5 pm.
