Mrs. Virginia "Sassy" Keese

Mrs. Virginia "Sassy" Keese, age 91, of Chatsworth, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Keese; son, Bill Keese; parents, Robert Garland and Wareene Moore Thompson; brothers, Bob Thompson and Tommy Thompson.
Mrs. Keese is survived by  her children and spouses, Diane & Gary Stinnett of Chatsworth, Larry Keese, Jr. of Tampa, Florida, Jimmy and Debbie Keese of Ponce Inlet, FL; grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Nicole Stinnett of Dickenson, TX., Stephanie and Keith Pearl of Deweyville, TX., Sean and Bre Keese of Dickenson, TX; great-grandchildren, Katie and Andy South, Mason Stinnett, Victoria Stinnett, Kaleb and Kai Pearl; brother and sisters in law, Jimmy and Deborah Thompson of Gadsden, AL and Waynette Thompson of Oxford, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Keese were Friday, October  12, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev David Allgood, and  Floyd Franklin officiating.  The family received friends Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.  Interment was in Eton Cemetery.

Charles William Ruark

Charles William Ruark, of Pensacola, FL, born on December 27, 1937 in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late Leila Lee Ruark and the late John Dooly Ruark, passed away at age 80 on October 6, 2018 in Chatsworth, Georgia. Charles Ruark served in the U.S. Navy 25 years from 1954-1980. He retired from his second career at Naval Aviation Depot Jacksonville FL in 2002. Charles is survived by wife, Donna Arlene Ruark; their sons, John Ruark and Charles Ruark Jr.; daughters, Michele Polk, Susan Lee, and Jonigene Ruark; and sisters, Patricia Ann Hagan and Mary Louise Gaines. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.  Those who wish, may donate in Charles' name to Disabled American Vets and/or American Legion. Friends and family members may attend the memorial service on Friday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.

Ms. Helen G. Harris age 95 of Crandall, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Assisted Living.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Ms. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, C.D. Harris & Cam Keith Harris; sister, Ann H. Brindle; brother, Charles R. Harris.
Survivors include brother-in-law, C.P. Brindle of Crandall; several nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews.
No services will be held.

Miss Margaret Ann Cate

Miss Margaret Ann Cate, 86 of Chatsworth, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 after a brief illness.
She was born in Ocoee, Tennessee, to parents, Grover C. and Annie Howell Cate. One of five girls, she was a lifelong resident of the Chatsworth area.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Vick, Jo Parrott, and Martha Sue Vining; brothers-in-law, Judson Vick, Therlow Craig, and R.L. Parrott; niece, Judy Ware.
Survivors include sister, Ruth Craig of Dalton; brother-in-law, Robert Vining of Dalton; nieces and nephews, Laura and Mark Orr, Jane Cochran, Susan Parrott, Tommy Vick; great nieces and nephews, David and Sandy Nix, Tracey and Heath Morton, Chris and Lynn Ware, Melissa and Steve White, Jussey Vick, Dane Vick, Sage Vick, Craig Cochran, Nathan Cochran, Anna and Gabriel Kussin, Kate Orr; great-great nieces and nephews and many special neighbors also survive.
A graveside service for Miss Cate was held on Monday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m. at Murray Memorial Gardens with Dr. Dean Osuch officiating.

Mr. Paul Jackson, age 80, of Chatsworth, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018, at his residence.
He was a lifelong resident of Murray County and one of the largest land developers in Murray County.  He loved farming and enjoyed raising cattle.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Jackson; parents, Robert and Fannie Jackson; sisters, Mozelle Ingle, Alma Parker, Mary King and Virginia Jackson; brothers, Bobby Jackson, Floyd Jackson, Richard Jackson, Hill Jackson, Bill Jackson and special friend and mother of children, Viola Jackson.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda Weaver and Wanda Jackson-Bramblett of Chatsworth; companion and help mate, Bernice Elrod of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Erica and Derek Griffin of Chatsworth, Kristy Bramblett of Knoxville, TN., Cassidy and Nathan Langham of Chatsworth and Jacqueline of Florida; great-grandchildren, Blake Griffin, Landon Griffin, Chanley Langham and Erin Langham all of Chatsworth and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. John Roy Brackett

Mr. John Roy  Brackett, age 93 of Cisco, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, October 4, 2018. He was of the Baptist faith.
Johnny was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and proudly served his country during WW II. He will be especially remembered in the community and state for his great love and knowledge of the Cohutta Wilderness due to the many long hours acquired across a lifetime of hunting and fishing. Subsequently, he acquired an impressive collection of local Indian artifacts.
After retirement from the U.S. Forestry Service, he spent most Saturdays cheering on the U.T. Vols. He was a devoted and loyal fan in both football and basketball, especially Pat Summitt’s Lady Vols.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence  Douthitt  Brackett; his parents Rev. J.E. and Etta Brackett; sister Gladys Ellis; brothers: Willie (Edna), J.P. (Louise), and Herbert Brackett; sisters-in-law Phyllis (Bill) Campbell and Maxine (Roy) Kersey.
John Roy is survived by his “special grandchildren Jack and Audrey Stafford, along with his faithful and loyal companion Buddy.  Nieces: Lisa (John) Stafford; Pamela  (Tom)  Ownby; Teresa  (Steven) Suttles; nephews: Jerry (Susan) Ellis, Harold Brackett; and sister Leoma Brock; great and great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
The family wishes to thank his devoted caregivers: Jeremy and Leia Collins, Tammy Hesson, Faye Manis and Tina Flatters. Their love and kindness allowed John Roy to remain where he was most happy, at home, with his faithful dog Buddy.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of John  Brackett  will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from the chapel of Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Beason officiating, remarks by Judge Shepherd Howell and Jack Stafford. Burial will be in Mt.  Sumach  Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Brackett, Harold Brackett, Jeremy Collins, Jerry Ellis, Tom Ownby and Jack Stafford.

Bobby Joe Ellis, age 83 of Chatsworth, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Erlanger Health Care System in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mr. Ellis retired after 48 years as a truck driver for Cagle Feed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Nina Jo Ellis; daughter, Nina Rose Ellis; brother, Billy Ellis; and sister, Judy Skidmore.
He is survived by his wife, Dell Ellis; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Glenda Stephenson; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Teresa Ellis; sister and brother-in-law, Etta Mae and Bob Dooley; grandchildren, Melodi and Ian Tankersley; Ben and Sara Stephenson; great-grandchildren, Ella Kate, Claire, and Lincoln Tankersley; and Laney, Emmaline, and Amelia Stephenson.
Funeral services were conducted 11:00 am Saturday, January 14, 2017 from the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Rev. Danny Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Smyrna Cemetery.

Mr. Leonard Hamilton “L. H.” Sanford, Jr., age 93 of Chatsworth, passed away Monday November 7, 2016.
Mr. Sanford was a lifelong resident of Murray County, a WWII US Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the Smyrna Baptist Church.
He enjoyed gardening, raising livestock and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as “Pa.”
He was preceded in death by his father, L. H. “Ham” Sanford, Sr., mother, Bertha Vick Sanford; first wife, Geraldine Baggett Sanford; great granddaughter, Natalie Stafford; brothers, J. D. Sanford and Jack Sanford; sisters, Odean Sanford, Althea Thomason, Jessie Ridley and Cleo Martin.

Etta was preceded in death by her parents, John and Matilda Patterson, and husband, Arthur Newton.
